When using JxBrowser with Ignition--specifically when utilizing the Perspective module in the Designer or the Web browser component-- users will likely encounter issues on macOS 15 Sequoia. These problems stem from a compatibility issue as JxBrowser does not currently support macOS 15. As of the writing of this article, macOS 15 is on the JxBrowser roadmap.
Details
The following issues can be observed on Ignition Designers and Clients running on macOS 15:
- The Perspective module will be unable to launch the workspace for any existing or new views. Other modules can still be used.
- Vision Web Browser component will fail to load properly in any Vision window and the Designer.
The following features continue to function properly without noticeable issues:
- Perspective workstation utilizes a different version of JxBrowser separate from the one used by the Designer and the Web browser component.
- Perspective sessions in a web browser, which are not reliant on JxBrowser.
Patch Availability
Once support for JxBrowser on macOS 15 Sequoia is implemented, a new stable version of Ignition will be released to address these issues. While macOS 15 is on the JxBrowser roadmap, it is currently not in active development, and there is not a clear timeline for the release at the time of writing this article.
Workaround
Currently, there is no supported workaround available. We recommend that users refrain from upgrading to macOS 15 on machines intended to use the Designer or Vision clients until a stable release is available to ensure compatibility.
